What is Executive Coaching?
Executive coaching focuses on enhancing leadership capabilities, improving effectiveness, and unlocking both personal and professional potential.
The practice of executive coaching is relatively new. It gained momentum in the 1980s, driven by rapidly changing business environments that demanded stronger, more adaptive leaders. Today, it remains one of the most powerful tools for leadership development, given how personal and tailored it is.
At its core, executive coaching is a collaborative and goal-oriented partnership between a leader and a professional coach. Together, they work to expand self-awareness, sharpen decision-making, and translate insight into action. As noted by Kilburg (1996) and Grant et al. (2009), the ultimate goal is to improve performance, accelerate personal growth, and strengthen organizational impact.

With a background spanning corporate leadership, strategy, and human development, the practice combines business acumen with psychological insight to deliver lasting results.

About Sanoop Luke
Founder of Above Executive Coaching
Sanoop Luke is an executive coach and leadership advisor who works 1:1 with senior leaders, founders, and high-potential executives to help them navigate change, lead with confidence, and create meaningful impact.
Based in Copenhagen and working globally, Sanoop partners with clients across Europe, the US, and Asia, from Fortune 500 companies and creative agencies to fast-growing tech and investment firms.
With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of leadership, media, and technology, Sanoop brings a practical yet human approach to coaching, grounded in data, psychology, and real-world leadership. His proprietary frameworks, including the 12 Pillars of Executive Leadership and the 11-Dimensional Dashboard, help clients measure and accelerate growth in performance and purpose.
With years of professional business experience, including an international career at YouTube, Cartoon Network, and GE, Sanoop has worked across strategy, partnerships, and content, spanning offices from New York to Hong Kong. As a former Googler, he brings a grounded understanding of both innovation and execution. This experience informs his coaching philosophy today: that leadership is both an inner practice and an outer game, one that requires continuous learning.
Sanoop completed an Executive Coaching Programme at the University of Cambridge and continues to train in new and timeless approaches to behavioral change, communication, and executive development.
When he’s not coaching, he can be found exploring Copenhagen with his family, traveling, or designing new frameworks that bring the art and science of leadership to life.
